The DioxiCare® System
-
Maintain oral hygiene:
-
Brush twice daily, floss, and use antibacterial DioxiCare rinses.
-
-
Regular dental checkups:
-
Early detection of gum disease prevents systemic spread.
-
-
Routine eye exams:
-
Catch ocular complications early, especially if you have gum disease or diabetes.
-
-
Balanced diet:
-
Vitamins A, C, E, and omega-3s support both gum and eye health.

How Oral Health Affects the Heart & Eyes
1. Bacteria Spread
-
Gum disease bacteria can travel from the mouth into the bloodstream.
-
Once in circulation, they can attach to blood vessel walls and contribute to atherosclerosis (plaque buildup).
-
Oral bacteria have been found inside arterial plaques, linking gum infections directly to cardiovascular disease.
2. Inflammation Connection
-
Gum disease triggers chronic inflammation.
-
Inflammation is a key driver of heart disease, weakening arteries and increasing clot risk.
-
Elevated inflammatory markers from oral infections can worsen existing cardiovascular conditions.
3. Blood Clot Risk
-
Oral bacteria may stimulate the formation of tiny blood clots.
-
These clots can block blood flow, leading to heart attacks or strokes.
4. Direct Tissue Impact
-
Severe oral infections can, in rare cases, spread and cause endocarditis (infection of the heart’s inner lining).
-
This is especially dangerous for people with weakened immune systems or pre-existing heart conditions.

The DioxiCare® System
-
What Is DioxiCare®?
-
When you hear the term chlorine dioxide, you might immediately think of chlorine bleach—a harsh chemical often used in swimming pools. While both are oxidizing agents with strong disinfecting abilities, their similarities end there.
-
Chlorine dioxide is a far gentler compound, widely used to purify drinking water, sanitize meat, seafood, fruits, and surfaces, eliminate odors, whiten teeth, and, most notably, safely treat wounds and infections. Research has consistently shown that, at proper concentrations, chlorine dioxide poses no harmful effects when applied to the skin or ingested.
-
Unlike chlorine bleach, it does not irritate, leave toxic residues, or interfere with wound healing. In fact, chlorine dioxide provides numerous health benefits without the safety concerns associated with bleach.
-
For a deeper dive into its chemistry and applications, see An Overall View of ClO₂ by Howard Alliger.

The DioxiCare® System
-
-
Chlorine dioxide is a gas, incorporating it into practical products is challenging.
-
Frontier Pharmaceutical developed a breakthrough method to generate the gas and stabilize it in shelf-ready formulas. This innovation is known as the DioxiCare® System.
-
By combining two components at the time of use, chlorine dioxide is instantly released into a solution or gel at a controlled concentration—ideal for topical applications.
-
The unmixed components remain stable for up to two years.
-
Frontier has also introduced a single stable solution and gel containing a Chlorine Dioxide Complex.
-
This eliminates the need for mixing two parts, making the process simpler and more convenient.
-
-
These formulations are used in Frontier’s skin care and veterinary/wound care products, with a shelf life of approximately 18 months when stored in cool conditions (40–70°F).

Key Features of DioxiCare®
-
Broad-spectrum disinfectant: Rapidly kills bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast, and spores—typically within one minute in laboratory tests.
-
Unique mechanism of action: Breaks bacterial cell walls and disrupts viral envelopes, while leaving human tissue unharmed.
-
No resistance development: Unlike disinfectants such as Triclosan, chlorine dioxide does not lead to resistant strains.
-
Odor elimination: Neutralizes odors through oxidation rather than masking them, with added whitening effects.
-
Safe and non-irritating: Suitable for use on skin and even open wounds, without producing toxic or carcinogenic by-products.
-
Supports healing: Promotes wound recovery and alleviates skin conditions, while offering anti-inflammatory benefits by neutralizing free radicals and cytokines.
-
Frontier emphasizes that no other disinfectant matches DioxiCare’s ability to quickly destroy all types of microorganisms, remain safe for direct use on the body, and actively support healing.
-

-
Safety and Testing
-
Extensive studies—including those conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—confirm the safety of chlorine dioxide. Frontier Pharmaceutical has carried out numerous efficacy and toxicity evaluations on its products. However, it is important to note that EPA and FDA approvals have not yet been obtained for any Frontier formulations.
